Charge

The committee shall coordinate the efforts of the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) and AASHTO on aviation policy matters. The committee shall review aviation policy obtained from NASAO and others; suggest aviation policy for NASAO's consideration; and recommend aviation policy to AASHTO's Board of Directors. It shall identify and receive reports from its subcommittees and task forces as to federal regulatory mandates of national concern, and provide reports thereon. Joint AASHTO-NASAO technical subcommittees shall be formed as deemed necessary by the standing committee. These subcommittees shall coordinate with other AASHTO technical committees to avoid duplication, and the results of their work shall be disseminated to all states after approval of the standing committee. Membership on the committee shall be limited to four members from each of the four regions plus the Chairperson of the committee, all appointed by the AASHTO President with the concurrence of the Executive Committee. Two members from each region shall be Chief Executive Officers of member states and two shall be State Aviation Administrators. The State Aviation Administrators shall be proposed by NASAO. Members shall be appointed for four-year terms with reappointment possible at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
