SafeStat combines current and historical carrier-based safety performance information to measure the relative (peer-to-peer) safety fitness of interstate commercial motor carriers and intrastate commercial motor carriers that transport hazardous materials. SmartWay Transport Partnership is a collaborative voluntary program between EPA and the freight industry that will increase the energy efficiency and energy security of our country while significantly reducing air pollution and greenhouse gases. The Partnership creates strong market-based incentives that challenge companies shipping products, and the truck and rail companies delivering these products, to improve the environmental performance of their freight operations. At the same time, it offers the truck and bus drivers the chance to improve their professional image each day they are behind the wheel. Surveys indicate that many highway users are intimidated by the mere size of a truck or bus. When you combine this perception with a highway crash and the resulting roadway congestion, the public image of the motor carrier industry takes a beating no matter who caused the crash. By driving safely to prevent crashes, you can improve that image and save yourself time, money, and most importantly lives. Truck & Bus Drivers

Strategic management encompasses planning, implementing, evaluating, and updating a strategic agenda aimed at maintaining the most viable fit between an organization and its external environment and moving into the future in a deliberate, purposeful manner. Although strategic planning is the cornerstone of the strategic management process, strategic management is the overarching process of managing large-scale, sometimes very fundamental change to ensure a high level of performance in the long run. Strategic Planning and Decision Making PDF Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) The National Consortia on Remote Sensing in Transportation are funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Research and Special Programs Administration, and NASA Earth Science Enterprise. This research partnership involves four university consortia and a number of Technology Application Partners, working with transportation practitioners at the federal, state and local level in the U.S. and abroad. Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) is a major focus of NCRST-Infrastructure. It is being addressed in a series of user consultations and specialist meetings, methodological research and publications. Participation of local agencies is essential to the success of this effort. For background on the program, updates to this document and additional NCRST resources, please visit our web site (below). Most consortium publications are available in digital form.
