Richard Nordahl is currently the Chief, Office of Goods Movement, of the California Department of Transportation. His office, as part of the Division of Transportation Planning, is responsible for statewide goods movement planning, including the analysis of goods movement by truck and rail, and movement through California's airports, seaports, and border crossings. His office was responsible for the development under legislative request of the Global Gateways Development Program, completed in January 2002.
Mr. Nordahl has worked in the goods movement field over 10 years. His other major assignments have included being the Department's Acting Chief of Planning in San Diego, staff to Governor Gray Davis' Commission on Building for the 21st Century, and project manager/assistant project manager for the 1993 California Transportation Plan. Mr. Nordahl is a 1976 graduate of the California State University, Sacramento with a degree in Environmental Studies (Planning Concentration). He also holds a 1984 certificate in Rail Transportation from the University of California, Institute for Transportation Studies.
